How to Secure IMPACT Flags LED Flag Pole Lights on Telescopic Flag Poles

in Useful Guides
LED 12v USB Flag Pole Lights

How to Attach IMPACT Flags’ Glow Bugs, Illumin8, Chameleon, or Gecko Flag Pole Lights to your telescopic flag pole.

If you’ve purchase  our IMPACT FLAGS’ Flag Pole Lights –  Glow Bugs, Illumin8, Chameleon, or Gecko Flag Pole Lights you have some of the best flag pole lights on the market and we have put this guide together to help you attach them to your telescopic flag pole!

What You’ll Need

  • IMPACT Flags’ Flag Pole Lights (Glow Bugs, Illumin8, Chameleon, or Gecko)
  • Telescopic Flag Pole
  • Velcro Straps / Insulation Tape / Gaffa Tape, anything that is soft – don’t use cable ties they can cut through the silicone tubing (for securing the lights)
  • Power Source

Steps to Install Your Lights

  1. Clean the Flag Pole:
    • Make sure the flag pole is clean and dry. Wipe it down to remove any dirt or grime, which will help with adhesion of the tape.
  2. Prepare the Lights:
    • Unpack your Glow Bugs, Illumin8, Chameleon, or Gecko lights. Familiarise yourself with the setup and make sure you have all components ready.
  3. Attach the Lights Using Velcro Straps:
    • Position the Lights: Place the lights on the flag pole where you want them to go. The easiest way we have found is to lay them down onto the pole – or you can gently twist them around (glow bugs work best this way)
    • Wrap with Velcro Straps: Take the Velcro straps  and wrap them around both the lights and the pole. Secure the straps tightly but gently. This method is adjustable, so you can reposition the lights if needed. If you don’t have velcro straps, please see below
    • Alternatively, Use Insulation Tape:Wrap the Tape: If you prefer insulation tape or any other type of tape, wrap it around the lights and the flag pole carefully avoiding the LEDs (or you will cover up the lights) . This will hold the lights in place and provide a soft, cushioned grip.
  4. Connect to Power:
    • Hook up your lights to the power source. For outdoor installations, make sure all electrical connections are weatherproof. Depending on what you purchased from us, you will require either a USB power source (power bank or directly to your van) or 12v supply (this will be to a cigarette lighter) you have 3m of cable between the connection and the first LED.
  5. Test the Lights:
    • Power on the lights to ensure everything is working properly. Adjust the positioning or securing if needed to get the best effect.
  6. Final Checks:
    • Double-check that all connections are secure and that the lights are firmly attached to the pole. Ensure Velcro straps or insulation tape are snug and tidy, when you are happy, simply put your flag pole over your stake and you are ready to light up the nights sky with multitude of effects!

Extra Tips

  • Weatherproofing: For outdoor setups, ensure all power connections are protected from the elements to avoid any damage.
  • Maintenance: Regularly inspect the lights and securing materials for wear and tear, especially if they are exposed to harsh weather.
  • Adjustability: Velcro straps are great for making future adjustments or repositioning the lights if needed.

With these steps, you can effectively attach your IMPACT FLAGS Flag Pole lights to your telescopic flag pole without the need for mounting clips. Enjoy the enhanced visibility and charm your new lighting brings!

We hope this guide is of help – you may find other ways you  prefer to use, but this is our chosen and a method we have used for the past 10 years.
